This series is the second body of work part of my larger exploration around the parallels between knots, the human body and interpersonal connections. The series’ name stems from the affirmation my mom has used to uplift the well wishes and goals of those around her. Although I’m more spiritual than religious, the phrase is a reminder that something bigger than us is guiding us on our journeys. “From Your Lips, To God’s Ears” is an investigation into sustainability, the artist as an archive, nostalgia, Blackness and the musicality of physical objects.
